Any chance you could let someone who's dying to get his hands on one of these know how you managed it?

If you play NIGHT TRAP and LICK IT UP in the same set you're basically fucking goated imo. @jononealmusic.bsky.social

The Last of Us is a game I finally played that I felt was one of the most overrated of all time, but I sort of went into it thinking that, so not really in the spirit of the question. There are some others like this.

"Hate" is probably a strong word for any of these, but in terms of vastly exceeding or falling short of my expectations:

Hit - DQ1, Castlevania (1), Minecraft, Ghosts'n Goblins, Tempest 2K/4K, DMC3

OK - Undertale

Miss - Earthbound, Nights into Dreams

I think I'm impressed more than I'm let down!
What are some (supposed) ultimate 11/10 masterpieces you got to late & assumed you'd hate but didn't or assumed you like but didn't

Hit - Doom, 1st Tomb Raider, Minecraft

OK - Biohazard 4, 3rd Strike

Miss - Halo, Half Life 2, Bioshock, Phantasy Star 2, any Zelda, Dr Mario
its always funny to me when someone plays a game like YEARS later that was universally praised and they are like "god damn it was really that good huh"

I am always in the corner like "breaking news...game that has been praised for 30 years actually deserves it"

MAGFest! It should be uploaded to YouTube at some point after the convention is over.

The title of the talk is "What's New in Game History?"

The speakers were Phil Salvador, Laine Nooney, and Kendra Albert.

Okay look man, I am genuinely asking, is there not some branch of federal law enforcement that can escort them to and/or oppose the ICE freaks denying them access? That, in fact, is obligated to? If not, this "legal right" is meaningless as long as ICE can just say no (with guns).
I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building.

Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.

The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.
JUST NOW: Huge mass of agents in a standoff, weapons drawn as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig, and Kelly Morrison attempt to conduct congressional oversight at the Whipple Building, which has been HQ for thousands of ICE agents.

To be clear, I don't even think that's a high bar. I think it's just a matter of sitting down and writing every word yourself. My guess about the "maybe" lines in the students papers is they possibly iterated (probably heavily) on an LLM draft or something. Hell they may be taught to these days.

Through an AI scanner*, I should say

All of my posts actually got a fucking ZERO percent chance of being AI generated, and the thing was able to detect shit down to the per-sentence level. I didn't even get a "maybe" on any single line (the students did). That's the Nixon dot Computer touch, baby.

Awhile ago, my mom was running an essay contest for Chattanooga high schoolers and asked me to check if they were AI gen'd for her (sadly, one was). I ran a few of my posts through it as a control. I figured I'd clock in at at least a few percentage points chance. We all use the same words, right?
January 6, 2026 at 10:51 PM
Regardless of quality even! Which is the thing I worry the most about since most of my posts are first drafts. Who cares! At least I didn't just press a fuckin button.
January 6, 2026 at 10:44 PM
Every now and then I wonder why I even bother doing all my little blog posts, but something about the past couple years has made the very act of writing a bunch of words myself about something I care about (or anything, really) seem awfully virtuous regardless of audience or reach.
However mad you were at Nancy Pelosi for her mealy mouthed J6 thread, you weren’t mad enough because it looks like she used ChatGPT to generate it

Of course! It's Super Mario World 2! Needless to say, Super Mario Land 3 is also a core Mario game.

I played Mega Man Powered Up for the first time late last year and it gave me a much stronger appreciation for MM1. What a cast! What a soundtrack!

Powered Up is also a hell of a remake and great in many ways in its own right. Just packed with stuff to do.
