This YouTube channel, @DeadliftsForTheDarkGods, publishes content I've been devouring these past few days. What got me is the guy did some voiceovers with sound effects for Elemental Council. A contact sent one my way, I was entranced, and now I'm just down the rabbithole. 10/10

That meme is cracking me up

I get the logic, Dept of War sounds more warriorly than Defense. But why stop there? Why not the Temple of War or Cult of Annihilation or Murder Inc or something? Tons of rebranding opportunities being missed right now smh

"Without the lore, what would Warhammer even be?"

Really apt finding from @rosgakori.bsky.social's work in "the Psychgeist of Pop Culture – Warhammer" (playstorypress.org/books/the-ps...).

Yndrasta was a fun one to write. I have this monster story that I thought would be cool for her: a horror story in Sigmaron where she's hunting down a beast that chews up Stormcast for fun. Kind of like "Murder by Moonlight" turned on its head.

What a better place to read @noahvannguyen.bsky.social’s Yndrasta than on a train through Alaska? It feels right. #BlackLibrary #WarhammerCommunity
A train window looking out into the Alaskan wilderness. In the windowsill is a special edition copy of ‘Yndrasta.’ The cover is an artists portrayal of the winged huntress.

I was glad to see @mehdirhasan.bsky.social's debate on Jubilee for this. In the post-interview clip you could really tell that the event was eye-opening for some of the attendees who realized who they were in politically bed with.
luciust.bsky.social
Okay, but they run our government. Seems like they completely own the debate right now, so someone actually needs to call them on how stupid and deplorable their ideas are to their faces in a public setting.

Oh not at all @drruler.bsky.social ! I even agreed with a lot of what you all had to say — and everything else was still very sensible 😃

@lastpositivist.bsky.social I did!! Jen's nickname for Ghodh cracked me up. Actually I lol'd throughout that podcast. Found myself nodding and chuckling a bunch, even during the more critical bits. @drruler.bsky.social @onekuosora.bsky.social The three of you have a great energy!

Thanks @squidvoivoide.bsky.social ! Always a pleasure to know when my writing resonated :)

Thanks @dyslexicoedr.bsky.social !! Glad you enjoyed it

I finally finished reading 'Elemental Council' by @noahvannguyen.bsky.social and I got to say I loved it. It reminded me of a scifi version of a Vietnam War drama. Theres so much more to it than that, but thats the short sell. God, those characters will stick with me for a long time.

I wish, nodeeper secret meaning here. I just love t'au and love writing and so that thread exists :)
noahvannguyen.bsky.social
Hey — I'm still a fan! (Thanks!)

It really is though. This is me just stretching the muscles exploring ideas. I started writing like this as a kid and realized I needed to recalibrate everything and just have fun writing something. (There's no rigor here at all with the lore.)

Fixed it, thanks for the catch again!

Definitely missing a line! I'll have to go back in there — it was basically along the lines of "new souls"

I have a growing suspicion — and I'm only being half-facetious — that collectively we all imagine Henry Cavill playing every Warhammer character on TV

Emperor: Henry Cavill
Sanguinius: Blond long-hair Henry Cavill
Magnus: 1-eyed Henry Cavill
Alpharius: Henry Cavill in a Henry Cavill mask

et cetera

I work in fraud prevention for my day job. This is really impressive action from GW if you ask me. Honestly very proud to be associated with a company willing to do this

I might be overthinking it, but I'd hate to see the opposition side with Musk for expediency's sake, for example. Musk is an enemy of the people. Trump is an enemy of the people. I'm on the people's side.

So agreed. I hope they devour each other and the infighting creates need for real change.
noahvannguyen.bsky.social
Stay safe!

The thing that worries me about Musk and Trump's squabble is that this is just further normalizing the decay or our democratic norms. If Trump wins (esp. through extralegal means) and people celebrate Musk's downfall, it's a bad precedent. Same, obviously, if Musk wins, for other reasons

... might expect the correct translation would be. Just goes to show you how different the languages are. That's both exciting and scary, obviously, because I'd hoped to lean on my Russian knowledge. But I think it will still be helpful!
noahvannguyen.bsky.social
@neohav.bsky.social What does strike me as interesting is I've previously read a Russian translation, and what I've read so far of the Ukrainian translation is not what I imagined a translation would be. The turns of phrase, the vocabulary, none of them are 1:1 matches with what a novice (like me)..

Unfortunately not far — I haven't really been able to read *anything* between the baby, the day job, the writing, and (briefly) trying to be active in protests. Plus the book has been in a bit of "development hell" so the time sink has been incredible.

But it's still at the top of my list!
