Remember what he said about John McCain?
“He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

And now he's blaming Charlie Kirk for getting killed. At Kirk's memorial event.

He knows no morality. He is concerned only with winning, and at any price.

Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."

'Someone might make a MILLION, by hard work and good luck.'

Hmm. Sounds to me like you're basically happy with the system, just quibbling over the cut-off point at which it starts to make you feel a bit uncomfortable.

Human rights, by their very nature, apply to all humans. Special dispensations made only to a specific group are not human rights. They are privileges.

How on earth did this pillock manage to become 'Council of Europe’s human rights commissioner' without understanding this?

And ... blocked. Seriously?!

If the expression 'shit-eating grin' didn't already exist, Mike Johnson would make it necessary to invent it.

(As a general rule, I try not to post stuff based on what people look like. But sometimes it simply can't be ignored.)

No, not lucky me. Clever me. Superior me. Winning me. That's what he's saying.

The prison environment tends to brutalise and desensitise those who experience it. Consequently, they are often less well equipped to negotiate life on the outside upon their release than they were before they went in. #TheArchers

If George is going to learn, it's not going to be from his grandparents. They are very much implicated in why he is the way he is. #TheArchers

'Prison socialising has done Gawwge no favours'

Isn't that how prisons function? George has spent the last year in crime school. #TheArchers

Trump playing up his bullet dodging skills at the Charlie Kirk memorial is really beyond parody.

Because nobody has ever been able to 'change their biological sex medically'. The best anybody can hope for is using drugs, hormones, surgery and coaching to do an impersonation.

I say this not to be cruel. Quite the opposite, in fact. It is cruel to tell people they can change sex when they can't.

Strong the self-delusion in this one is.

Excellent column from Sonia Sohda:

"It’s both extraordinary and embarrassing that so many so-called progressive grown-ups have been duped into thinking this childish and parochial campaign is some sort of brave liberation struggle."

As @whenisbirths.bsky.social observes in his excellent Don’t Stop The Music, “There can’t be many top 20 singles based on the Peter Reich memoir, A Book of Dreams, in which Reich recalls helping his father Wilhelm to create a ‘Cloudbusting’ machine. Fortunately, Kate Bush has read and absorbed it”
Front cover: Don’t Stop the Music: A Year of Pop History, One Day at a Time, by Justin Lewis, featuring the author in a dinner jacket and bow tie singing into an old microphone on a mocked up record sleeve in a pile of other records

Yes, that’s an excellent point. Clearly, close coordination between the two representatives would be crucial.

I like the idea of each constituency having two elected officials - an MP to represent the electorate in parliament, and an ombudsman, say, to address their individual casework issues.

No doubt some might bemoan the expense, but in the larger scheme of things, the cost would be bugger all.

I don't know whether twelve cranks at random is going to produce better policy and strategy than twelve cranks in particular.
