The system will sift through huge amounts of data—some of it collected with questionable legal authority from government agencies—to help ICE with “streamlining selection and apprehension” of illegal immigrants. Given the well-documented problems and biases of AI systems, critics worry that ImmigrationOS might lead to wrongful arrests and deportations. But considering the administration’s love of security theatre, this may be a feature, not a bug. “
