And I'd probably be excellent in a context like that, but I don't have any of the technical skills these people are looking for (I presume)-- nor any of the socioeconomic tells that I feel are basically a requirement for corporate jobs in general.

Oh, believe me, I know Gen AI is all hype. The issue is, I'm not convinced that these jobs will be returned to us when it all collapses. After all, I lost my last job more to offshoring than to AI.

I'm afraid it'll be like Twitter: clearly broken but able to shamble along as a zombie indefinitely.

Right with ya, buddy. I'm pretty much the platonic ideal of the "gifted" burnout. I was the Lisa Simpson of my high school, our Prestige Kid, but I got to college with zero study skills and zero treatment for my ADHD, which my mom was totally in denial about then, bless her heart.

Also, it's been a bit miraculous-- my team kinda bonded during our last week like we never did before, so I suspect we're gonna be giving each other a lot of help trying to find similar work... assuming they haven't all been offshored or farmed out to AIs already.🤷‍♀️But it was still nice to see!
