Steve is fine/uninjured. Some neck pain from being tackled.

His biggest concern while in custody was what was happening to people outside the facility since he couldn't hear any of the munitions from inside.

In typical Steve fashion, he also made a number of new friends while detained.

NLG attorneys on site here have asked repeatedly to speak with protesters they're representing inside. No progress at this time. Messages being passed from ICE agent through fence supposedly to some kind of supervisors inside.

Release Steve Held and release all those detained for protesting.

Chaos again, feds tackling protesters at random.

They just detained @peoplesfabric.com.

Per witness, Steve was filming an arrest when feds knocked a group of people backwards and grabbed him. She says it appeared targeted to her since he had been filming CBP interaction with the protester from start to finish.

@unraveledpress.com wrote this yesterday after one of their journalists got popped in the face by a pepper ball.

tonight, federal agents detained the other journalist while he was doing his job.

yeah i think protesting at BV feels like a confrontation (and it is) but it's not the main one(s) we should be focused on. i think at some level people know the real risk lies elsewhere and are seeking the risk they know and fear less

ok let me end on an activating provocation: what would it look like for places where we KNOW the migra is scuttling around-- community hotspots, labor corners, etc-- to have the kind of crowd that Broadview has right now? What interventions would that make possible, BEFORE people are kidnapped?

i have yelled this into so many voids (signal chats) at this point i'm losing my mind??? people didn't listen to me about elon musk either so idk what i'm expecting, may as well yell into the void more

I know people want to feel like they're doing something and getting sprayed w gas and pepper balls feels like doing something, but it also takes a toll and saps energy away from other things-- and the central demand, if accomplished, actually makes interventions to free people *harder*

I don't think rallying there is bad on paper, but in a world where neighborhoods don't have enough patrols to prevent people being taken in the first place, focusing on trying to block vans seems like a lot of action too late

the only concrete arguments i have heard for rallying at Broadview are that it "slows them down"-- but I think that's only true if you think the number of ICE agents in the area stays the same. But it doesn't-- there are more and they are actively recruiting and hiring people

So the focus on "close Broadview" is a great goal in a world where closing Broadview means ICE is leaving the area-- but they are not leaving the area, which I suspect means people will be taken to either more dispersed locations or transported more quickly out of state or both

I am no kind of legal expert but I suspect that if the central facility goes away, that likely makes kidnapped people more difficult to find bc they will have to be immediately transported out of state-- i'm not sure but i also think you can't file a habeas petition outside your state?

When detention facilities haven't been close and available, I've heard of ICE temporarily stashing people in other places-- eg loading and holding people in prisoner transports before driving over state lines or to the airport
