Ninety minutes, thereabouts, is the ideal length of a film.

Two hours is justified for a special film.

The Brutalist (2024) at 215 minutes is another architecture film like The Fountainhead (1949) at 114 minutes.

Never give in to a protection racket.

This is the tactic of a coercive controlling abuser.
Trump acts like he is running a protection racket. What's going to be interesting is watching all those right wingers who have defended him argue that it is right that he attempts to strong arm UK et al into letting him occupy another NATO country.

AI has a negative effect on productivity?

That can't be true. Why would so many people be investing so much money in this wonderful technology?

Have they been sold a dream with little to support it?

Life has surface noise. That's how the snap, crackle, and pop gets in.
Somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, "listen mate, life has surface noise."

Minnesota is authoritarianism in action.
What we are seeing in Minnesota is what authoritarianism looks like in real time. Racism, dehumanization, and state-sanctioned violence are tearing at the foundation of this country.

It's okay to tell the boss he has a dumb idea.

True. But there are too many people too scared to say boo to the silly goose that is this Potus 47.
I couldn’t have said it better.

Pritzker: The Insurrection Act is designed for circumstances where your rights can’t be protected by local authorities

This is exactly the opposite.

Your civil rights are being infringed upon by CBP and ICE, and then they want to call in troops claiming that they’re protecting CBP and ICE.

What is with Wolverhampton and Conservative & Unionist Party racists?

Enoch Powell was MP for Wolverhampton South West from 1950 to 1974.

That's the constituency where fan boy Jenrick went to school (1995 - 2002?).

Don't blame the tools.
An absolutely key first principle when using AI is that you, the human, are responsible for its outputs, and that you must *check* everything it churns out. Blaming Copilot doesn't wash.
WM Police chief Craig Guildford has apologised for identifying a fictitious West Ham v Maccabi Tel Aviv match in a police report. He’s written to the home affairs committee and blames Microsoft CoPilot for the error

After the 1660 Stuart Restoration England disinterred the regicides and executed the corpses.

With enough macabre imagination a computer can be held responsible for its actions and punished accordingly.

Here's the history of the USA that should be taught in schools
Friends, Claudette Colvin—the 15-year-old who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus in March 1955 & joined the federal case against bus segregation that went to the Supreme Court — died today at age 86. But there are lots of myths and mis-impressions about her. A short corrective thread:
