We're alive to love things, learn things, and make things. That's it. That's our whole task in our short bright flash of life. Love, learn, and create. The more love, learning, and making stuff you put in the world - the love, harmony, beauty, justice, compassion and mercy of existence - the better.
I knew intellectually that second langauge speakers swear more often bc the cultural weight behind the swears is usually lost on them.
But it still took me so off guard when hearing my very god-fearing Ethiopian cousin, mutter "shit-shit-shit" when it was too late to cross the road.
