The seismic shift underway makes it both possible & necessary to build a new European independence.

From security to the economy.
From defence to democracy.

2. Trump wants to break up the European Union.

Feels like something cracked today in the transatlantic alliance. Europeans have been swallowing their pride, bitting their tongues, and bending the knee. That strategy may have bought them time but it has now clearly failed. It also had a major cost - it has made the WH think Europe will cave. 1/

Europe and other US allies need to radically rethink their position on the US. The US behaves like an imperialist aggressor in the Western hemisphere and ICE has, it seems, begun murdering US citizens. We need to start treating the US government like Russia: start building a democratic alliance

Europe is healthier and happier than the USA. But just as importantly, it’s more inclusive, more progressive and above all more environmentally sustainable. Europeans need to stop looking at the US and start thinking and acting for ourselves
The story of Europe’s economic decline while US is 'soaring' is everywhere.

But it is wrong. It is a myth.

Europe delivers more leisure, longer life expectancy, less inequality than the US.

Gabriel Zucman dismantles the myths.

This means more sanctions, securing financial aid to Ukraine for 2026-27 and cracking down on oil-smuggling ships. (1/2)

Potential impact if Europe fail to support Ukraine. The lack of funding and feeling of betrayal might cause the Ukrainian armed forces to collapse. The results would be another 5 - 10M refugees flooding western Europe, a Russia that controls Ukrainian industry and a Russian advance far into the EU.

Europe must have its own tech-infrastructure. It's too dangerous to be dependent on U.S. companies. We need to replace Amazon servers, Google search, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, ChatGPT, Nvidia, What'sApp etc with European versions. Or we might just be destroyed from within by fascist propaganda.
