It's hard to overstate setback AI is for the energy transition.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming the largest energy hog within worldwide digital infrastructure.

By the end of 2025, AI systems could be responsible for half of total data center power demand - up from about 20% per the end of last year.

in 2023, I warned that the derisking state is not a reliable regime of decarbonisation since it relies on tweaking the price signal to mobilise private investment, without considering other macro forces acting on that signal.
