I guess I should clarify that, if theres a retro game with progressive scan, and not line doubled, there could be a case for scanlines being a bit silly. but in the end its up to the viewer to like things

Im of two minds on this debate, I like a good scanline filter because it looks sharp and consistent, (because without line doubling, the interlacing would jiggle the screen) etc

But I also really like rf rainbows and artifacts because it is both nostalgic and an effect the artists accounted for.
