365 Movies in 365 Days: Boulevardier from the Bronx (1936)

This year I'm trying to watch one movie every day of the year, with the provision that the movie be no longer than 36.5 minutes long. I'll be selecting movies randomly from this list that's already way too long, but I still welcome…

My boss: so how's our fourth quarter looking?

Me, the sales manager at the company that makes inflatable frog suits: well, you're never going to believe this, but

I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?

Folks, this isn't to any of you specifically because I've seen more than one person doing it.

SUGGESTING THAT A BROWN WOMAN WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE TO REBUKE/TROLL A WHITE MAN

is super duper fucking racist on a pogo stick.

Please do not do that.

Enjoy that it will make Trump mad, sure.

People deciding they don't find you funny anymore isn't censorship. The first amendment doesn't guarantee you laughs or views on streaming or ticket sales. Be defensive or mad about it I guess, but that's not particularly funny either.

Serious question: does there come a point where everyone admits that Constitutional originalism is just a made-up vibe-based philosophy that gives Republican judges a pretext for ruling however it is that Republicans want them to rule?

It's sad. I loved Hilton's Tent City for decades and then it downsized severely after moving to Cambridge, and now it's gone forever. REI has been moving to a more corporate feel for some time now.

In Catholic school, churches, & campus ministry in the 80s/90s we disagreed on ordaining women, LGBT issues, & abortion, but conservatives & liberals all agreed on welcoming & supporting immigrants & opposing the death penalty. Conservatives have really strayed on that as they've aligned with Trump

I've found that the media in general treats conservative/orthodox religionists as the "official" group and progressive/liberal religionists as the "breakaway" group even though that's not often the case.

I haven't seen this in a while, maybe because I don't read the Boston Globe much anymore, but on any article related to Catholicism they would always get a quote from the Catholic League & treat it as an authoritative source even though it's really just one conservative guy.

I know we talk about it a lot, but I wish drivers had a moment of self-reflection about what they are calling "entitled." Because in this case, it's ensuring a little kid has a safe path to leave school.

A parent who parked his Audi on our school's open street yelled at me after I politely asked him to move his car just a little from where the students would come out. "You people are so entitled!" It was the dad of a kid who is in my son's class. We know each other and have seen each other socially!

What makes it so striking is that these are people with whom you have an obvious, built-in social tie. You see each other regularly. These aren’t total strangers, and it’s still too much to ask to even consider the possibility they’re actual people.
