Americans have been brainwashed into thinking you don’t deserve health care unless you have a full-time job with a company that offers benefits. When I freelanced as a stay-at-home mom and my self-employed husband and I couldn’t get insurance my “best” friend told me to “get a job.”

Those will be lovely. I don’t knit, but throughout my childhood in the Northeast wore a variety of sweaters, hats and mittens my grandmother made me. Wish I still had all of them. 💗

I am so sorry. My husband is a type 1 diabetic. For more than 30 years health insurance/health care has been our biggest stressor. What you are going through is inhumane . . . and uniquely American.

Self-employment also makes it difficult to get affordable health insurance or any health insurance if you have what insurers like to call a “pre-existing condition,” which basically is a health history.

Including a public school teacher next door to me in Newport News. And Hampton University, also on the Virginia Peninsula, suspended activities because of threats. And yet a conservative broadcaster promotes euthanasia of the homeless while on air and keeps his job.

My daughter, a high school math teacher, is working her way through The Artist’s Way for the second time (I did it once . . .about 20 years ago.) it’s challenging but infinitely rewarding. Good luck with your curriculum.
