Writing in her diary on Oct 3, 1944, in a southern suburb of Aachen, Clara Trafford made a farsighted comment. "I have had enough forever and a day. But in 20 years’ time, there will again be enough idiots around who will ignore what has happened and be willing to start the same misery all over again.
