"Stop blaming people for making the only sane choice."
100% agree.
For part of my bike commute I use the sidewalk -- it's just the only safe option for about 1.5km. I go slow, I ring my bell, I give pedestrians the right of way.
100% agree.

I'm sick of this bullshit question. Stop blaming people for making the only sane choice.
The real problem is our overbearing car culture and its complete failure to provide safe, dignified infrastructure for anyone not in a car.
Address that.

Excited to see the narrative flip from curtailment to empowerment. This is one of the benefits of renewable energy --> it produces near-zero marginal-cost power at peak hours!
What could we do with that superpower?

Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

What a beautiful reminder that the new economy first *reduces* resources required (from single- to multi-use), *reuses* in stationary applications, then *recycles* the remainder. The new economy isn't yet, but has a shot at being, fully cyclical.

Very bizarre watching a video promoting NYC's 15 mph ebike speed limit with the people being interviewed standing inches from massive suburban SUVs going 30 mph.

Love this design!
Even better would be if the small streets don't all need to meet the main street. I think it's totally reasonable for only 1/5 side streets to actually intersect the primary street and, when it does, it should do so only by turning right or having a traffic light.

Sidewalks shouldn’t stop for side streets, pass it on

Funny that a libertarian's favourite example of government is always the DMV and never the library or emergency services.

The world may be quite turbulent at the moment, but we can all take at least some solace in the fact that bookstores exist.

Being in or around cars is the most deadly thing we do on a daily basis. We can make cars safer (and we are), but this is a fundamental truth of physics.

It's like you make 3% progress on racism and people think all's fair again.
Boy Mamdani's race is really a vivid reminder that anti-Islamic bigotry is 100% accepted in US public discourse. People don't even bother dog whistling, it's just right out in the open.

My physics teacher found/bought a textbook from the early 1800s, and it had a chapter on electricity that was 2 pages and basically said, "We know this exists, we know it does stuff, but we don't know how it works."
And I think about what we know little about now that we'll harness in the future.
