Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

I imagine this has been mentioned many times and for good reason: it's not just one of the best debuts of the early 70s, it's one of the albums of the decade. It's got so much soul and a conscience too. Nailed on top 5 for me.

When John Cale was at school he wrote a piece for the viola. At the recital he remembered the beginning & middle but forgot the end. The terror of trying to get out of it is one of the greatest things that ever happened to him, to invent on the fly but do it elegantly. He's used it ever since.

Gram Parsons' debut LP (and only one released during his lifetime) is so wonderful. Listened to it again last week and it brought back great memories. There's something almost magical about it. His 2nd one (Grievous Angel) is also good but I must say I always come back to GP. Shame he died so young.
