I'll save you a lot of reading: unless Mamdani starts taking money from Turks and roasting leprechauns - and even then - there is no way in hell Stefanik is going to win New York a year after this election in the city.

8—Tilt
Inescapably country in nature with its jugband style bass, it's almost disarming compared to its mates on the album. But it's false sense of security, because that chorus is utterly harrowing. Strikingly eclectic.

Ruby’s Arms
The Salvation Army Band horn intro prepares you for heartbreak. But nothing can prepare you for Tom sticking on his railroad boots, nicking a scarf and saying goodbye to Ruby's Arms. Quietly devastating.

Scrolling through some scanned photos, I found this picture of my grandma Eirwen (on the right), and her sister Norma. Both used Welsh as their first language and both lived to be 100 years old (Norma got to 101). I think was taken in 1937 or thereabouts. I loved them both so much.

Written about a party thrown for The Monkees by The Beatles "The four Kings of EMI" in London in 1967. Also, apparently, "the girl in yellow dress" is a reference to Mama Cass. Two for the price of one!

Pierre Poilievre might be even more of an incompetent fuckwit than Maxime Bernier, and I did not think that was possible.
“It’s an historic fuck-up”
Pierre Poilievre’s week couldn’t get any worse, and yet it did.
It will be a miracle if he even makes it to the leadership review.

A tale of two November 5ths:
UK (1605): an attempt was made to blow up the House of Lords and assassinate the King, involving 36 barrels of gunpowder.
Canada (1995): an attempt was made to break into 24 Sussex and assassinate the Prime Minister, involving a pocket knife.

On Nov. 5, 1995, André Dallaire arrived at 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa, where Jean and Aline Chretien were sleeping. He spent nearly an hour on the grounds and in the home, waving at security cameras and holding a pocket knife.
This is the story.
