Every donation link, every GoFundMe for rent support etc., is—in reality—a fundraiser to make sure parasitic landlords with no moral compass can keep extracting wealth from vulnerable people.

Volunteer groups have raised thousands of dollars so that families in Minneapolis who are out of work due to fear of being harassed or abducted by ICE can make rent.
Put differently, a large number of landlords are so horrendously shitty they will extract wealth at any cost—moral or otherwise.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

My block held a little vigil on the corner. It's -6 degrees. Everyone brought a candle or two, and someone hauled out a heater. I could see more vigils on the blocks down the street. We left our lit candles on our porches. They can't kill us all.

You need to understand that there are not lengthy standoffs between protesters and ICE in Minneapolis. Alex Pretti was not a “protester” in a conventional sense. ICE lurks around the city and occasionally takes aggressive actions, and bystanders and observers document it and raise the alarm
obviously rioting is not what anyone wants to have happen, but does the NG's agenda being to control the protest suggest that they are there to support the federal agencies against the protestors?
