I work for a major carrier and when I have to pretend it's just a smartphone when people call about issues it sickens me bc I KNOW what it means these days to be without. It's your life. The fact that broadband and wireless aren't considered utilities is a crime.
if you want to do a fun experiment, turn off your phone + computer for a week. just one week. not as a digital vacation, not as a retreat into the woods. you have to go to work, plan hangouts, pay rent, deal with a leak in your ceiling, get a menu, find a bus line, do laundry, check weather...etc
People really don’t understand how ubiquitous the expectation that everyone has a smartphone has become
