Imagine drumming on Double Barrel when you're 18, then going on to play on Police And Thieves, Pull Up To The Bumper, and a million crucial recordings. And, of course, Boops (a track I often get obsessed with). Like the LP title, Sly Dunbar was a Rhythm Killer. R.I.P. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVIs...

Firstly, well in those lassies.

Secondly, since when were South Morningside any good at football?

When I went there we were consistently bottom of the league…

I think AI is making it harder for journalists to research, not easier. I was using Google - not ChatGPT or anything - to look up a book & it gave me a quote it said was key. Anyway, I bought the book & read it & there is no such quote, it's not even close. But it was detailed & convincing.

If you can't afford to pay, I get it. I can't afford to pay! But the reason I can't is because there's no goddamn money in journalism anymore

These paywalls are attempts to make this dying field viable. When you get personally offended by paywalls, you're essentially saying we should work for free

Must admit I haven’t completely digested the paper, but this excerpt via @mattmuir.bsky.social makes a very good point on the dangers of relying on AI answers…

Along woth more practical ‘life skill’ maths, I’d like to see better media literacy and critical thinking taught as early as possible.

Fewer exams sounds good too.
