Hi, I'm Spencer. I'm a freelance TTRPG designer and tester, and I'm definitely not a kobold with a fake mustache. I'd love to work with you!

One important thing about the ShareAlike license is that the ShareAlike provision ONLY applies to the content under that license.

So if you use a CC BY-SA font in your product, you still retain copyright for everything but the font and DO NOT have to release the whole project under a free license.

Let's say you're doing a translation into Portuguese. The new digital attribution would be:

Draw Steel Glyphs in Portuguese is adapted from Draw Steel Glyphs Font by MCDM Productions, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Draw Steel Glyphs in Portuguese is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 by [your name here].

2) ShareAlike. This means that if you modify the font package, you must do two things:

a) release the modifications under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license

b) when you do the attribution, indicate that you've made modifications (and optionally, in a few, words what they are)

Obligatory I am not a lawyer.

There are two big requirements with a CC-BY-SA license.

1) Attribution. Creative Commons has a guide for how to do attribution: wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Recomme...

MCDM just released the symbols they use in stat blocks under a free license.

If you've never worked with a CC-BY-SA license, check out the thread for some guidance.

Haven is 90% off on Steam.

It's one of those games where - if you judge it by its individual components - nothing really stands out.

7/10 art. 7/10 gameplay. 8/10 writing. 9/10 soundtrack. Etcetera.

And then you finish it and put it down and somehow it's one of the best games you've ever played.

So many people wouldn't have art for their projects if not for Dean's reasonably priced stock art and holiday free giveaways.

Hi everyone, can I ask you all a favour? please share this with your RPG creator friends.
Our car has failed the MOT, and to get it fixed is just not worth the money that needs spending on it. So, got to get a replacement as soon as possible.
25% OFF STOCK ART available on DriveThruRPG.

Whomever at @backerkit.com came up with overtime mode is a genius.

Took me 40 days to get my payments out.

I switched over to having the money hit my bank account directly after that.
pestoenthusiast.bsky.social
Damn it. Thanks.

One day someone will implement that and we can all leave DTRPG, their 30/35% cut, and their anti-creator stance on AI behind.

I just want to add that when I commission artists, the first thing I look for is their portfolio.

I do not have a Facebook account. If their portfolio is only on Instagram (or any other site that requires me to have an account before I can view their work), I won't consider them.

Does it support automated revenue sharing?

Most sufficiently large collaborations needs revenue sharing, and right now the only site that offers that is DTRPG.
pestoenthusiast.bsky.social
Scum and Villainy. Every time I've run it, it's just been the best, most chaotic time.

(Note that I run FitD games without position and effect rules. YRMV.)

Triangle Agency is rapidly reaching that point too, but it has a lot more acclaim.

Do you have a ttrpg that in your opinion is so under celebrated that you have appointed yourself head of the PR committee for that game? Where on at least one occasion someone mistakenly assumed you must have worked on it but really you're just unwell about it?

What's that game to you?

DriveThru is the biggest storefront for TTRPGs and Itch is their only real competitor.

The person I originally responded to is in the TTRPG space.
pestoenthusiast.bsky.social
I don't know any other storefront that manually reviews every payment before it goes out.

DriveThruRPG, for all its faults, you hit a button and the money transfers.

It should all be automated, but he created an unnecessary bottleneck that he can no longer manage and people are rightfully angry.

I have a hard time believing that it's just Leaf.

Regardless, the fastest way to burn goodwill is to fuck with people's money. It took them ~40 days to pay me, and their Discord is filled with people that were waiting even longer.

One person or many, that's no way to operate a business.
pestoenthusiast.bsky.social
And boy do they NOT deserve it.

We need alternatives that do things like:
1) Give people their money in a timely fashion
2) Answer support tickets in a timely fashion
3) Communicate effectively about site issues
4) Release useful new features
5) Do something, anything, to aid discoverability

If they never got back to you and you're still looking for someone to run a session for you, let me know. I'm MCDM's contract senior tester (though I'm reaching out here in an individual capacity), and I've already run onboarding sessions for a bunch of designers.
pestoenthusiast.bsky.social
Yeah. But some of them are like that, just cables, while some of them have independent USB power.
