If anyone has emailed saying my company, Discoglobe, is hiring for a freelance position, THIS IS A SCAM. I think they are using LinkedIn connections to find names to manufacture a veneer of legitimacy.

Remember: no matter what game you're working on, you'll end up making about 25% of it in the end. The key is to choose the correct 25%.

Ten new #tartan setts were registered today. Regrettably, my favourite belongs to a golf course. "intended to capture the spirit of Carnoustie’s wild and beautiful coastline.: www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetail...

Passed this enormous xmas tree last week while riding my winter bike. A bonus to winter cycling I hadn’t considered, is continuing to see the city up close through all its seasons.

I like this a lot.
We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

Discord automatically recognizes Scrivener as a "game" and so when I opened it just now, discord invited me to invite other writers to "play" Scrivener with me. Unplug it all, make it all stop.

"Studios don’t want to address toxicity against their employees because they see it as confronting the dark sides of their community, which they believe is a core demographic."

Yep, pretty much. Even in the face of quantifiable evidence to the contrary.

Inverness Castle gets a new #tartan today. Lots of math symbolism in this one. (details in alt) I like the pixel art gradient effect where the blue and "deep timber" intersect. www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetail...

This sounds very cool.

Montreal! My friends opened a restaurant! It’s a Mediterranean snack bar inspired by the Armenian diaspora right in the Mile End. Give them a follow on the Instagrams and come by!

They are soft launching for the next two weeks & testing out menu items! Be the first to try stuff out!

Checked out a bit of the new Deux Montagnes REM line out of McGill station yesterday, and I think it’s going to bring a lot of life back to downtown. There were like… suburban teenagers using it to go to the Eaton Centre mall. Both directions busy with ppl both leaving work and coming to hang out.

Honestly, this would work on me as long as it was Apple Fitness. Show me the Jessica and Kyle extended universe. Make me stop mid-curl to note some arcana.
Like, forget canon alternate reality games – I want to write a mythos-heavy TV show where the links between individual episodes can only be understood in the context of the patch notes of a licensed mobile fitness app.

My #gamedev hot tip of the day: document everything, thoroughly. Pretend you live in a time loop. Games take time to make, and I for one need weekly reminders of what The Vision™ is and what we're trying to achieve, to avoid chasing squirrels.

My new tools outlook, is don't want everything in a "suite" from one data-hoarding provider. I want tools from multiple sources, that are designed to play well with other tools and allow me to control my own affairs.
Yesterday, I unhooked all my domains from Gmail, and started migrating to Thunderbird. I also replaced gdrive with Pcloud for storage. My whole PC is running way better today!

One time I said this to a potential client and they got all offended and nasty, which was a bright red flag that saved me and others a lot of trouble. (Good thing I didn’t get to recommend anyone!) So even when it backfires it’s useful.
One curious thing that helped me a lot in my freelance career is knowing a lot of other freelancers.

Being able to tell people "I'm not the most suitable person for this, but I know a guy/gal/pal who is" is a great way to present yourself as reliable and considerate, which'll take you very far
