Horrific news. The book is great btw, but also horrific.

People worked for years to get PFAS under control and only recently got some action. They're not only undoing it, but ramping it up.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Critical part of the President's new $100,000 charge for H1-B visas: The Administration can also offer a $100,000 discount to any person, company, or industry that it wants. Replacing rules with arbitrary discretion.

Want visas? You know who to call and who to flatter.

Perfect excuse to buy one of the best games of the last few years
Your aunt’s dead, your cousin hates you, and you’re stuck in a dead-end mining town with no way out.

🪾 Explore a branching story so dense that you'll only see 15% of the game in a single playthrough
😬 Make bad choices that you'll argue about with friends for years to come

Scarlet Hollow is 25% off

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

I was working on an audiobook once that wasn't very good, but it had a scene where a massive spider crawled up a deep crevasse and sank its fangs into the skull of a fallen enemy so that it could talk to the protagonist through the puppet-corpse, and I thought it was lovely moment
If i read a 200-300 page pulp horror novel and i don't think it's very good, it will still be absolutely worthwhile to me if it has one indelible horror setpiece or moment that wrecks my shit.

I made a starter pack for indie horror devs who are cool people (no racism, no sexism, and no hate against the LGBTQIA+ community)
Also no AI and no porn.
If you want to join, please tell me about the cool horror game you're working on😊

Get off Spotify. You may think you need to be in it, but you don't. We recently switched to Deezer, which doesn't have AI tracks, doesn't support Joe Rogan, and pays artists better. Still not great, but better than Spotify. Even transferred playlists and everything. Easy-peasy.

This really establishes a different, useful axis for considering political thought and actions; a valuable angle in modern times and also any arbitrary point in history
“Once people get a taste for humiliating, they will fight very hard to be able to keep doing it. Like an addiction, the competitively powerful will often put this urge above all else and behave in profoundly self-destructive ways to chase it.” www.liberalcurrents.com/the-politi/
The Politics of Humiliation
The politics of humiliation has moved to the center of the reactionary project under Trump II.

WeTransfer changed their language. They're now saying—and I *knew* they would—that it was all about content moderation. Oh really? So, if they found abusive materials of a child, let's say, they'd want to create derivatives and publicly display them and not compensate the user? Hmmm 🧐
This is egregious, read it read it. Imagine what you're agreeing to when using WeTransfer at this point. The cherry on top for me is that *transferable*, as if the rest isn't bad enough already
Bye forever, WeTransfer.
