No one said spooky season needed to end! I checked out Kriophobia earlier this week and you should too. It’s doing all the right old school Resident Evil moves, so don’t miss this one if you like survival horror

This morning’s Point to Point is now out!

Points: do you really need to write a hit piece if you know you’re not gonna vibe?

Also go play Duskpunk, a Citizen Sleeper like game but Dishonored

That game is not my vibe and that's fine.

New blog on the site! Inspired by a visit to an art museum and the complicated feelings of liking art from a problematic artist (and how that relates to covering games)

Art is problematic. So what?
Where do you draw the line when everything sucks?

- Of the Devil
- Cabernet
- Many Nights a Whisper
- Old Skies
- Connect the Dots (amazing toxic yuri vn jam entry)
- Seance of Blake Manor (yes it's as good as everyone says)

I’m sure @thelastcaretaker.bsky.social has an expansive cool world and an exciting mystery, but what if I told you it’s a cable management game (complimentary)? Noooow I’ve got your attention

E33 is VERY good and this is good news for Sandfall.

BUT

I think this sucks for The Game Awards and games in general. E33 is in 12(!) categories?? That’s *most* of them
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, from developer Sandfall Interactive, has become the most nominated game in The Game Awards history, with a total 12 nominations to its name this year. https://bit.ly/4i7g7bO

Hey @earcom.bsky.social ! I co-run 70% Complete, a gaming blog and podcast. My cohost and I are planning to do an episode on how NMS’ music works and I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing a podcast interview with us?

I feel like we need to bring back one hit wonders. You can just make too much money making one fun thing and then disappear into obscurity. It’s okay

Ambrosia Sky was one of my most anticipated games for this year and, while it didn’t live up to the hype, I’m excited to see the next acts next year.

All in all, a good Powerwash game with some heart

A review is an op-ed by definition. You’re just upset at the criteria being used.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has defended AI following Eurogamer's 2/5 Arc Raiders review, which criticised the game's use use of AI voice generation. "AI dialog generation + human personality and tuning could totally transform gaming," Sweeney said.

It really is that simple.
The thing that gets me about ARC’s use of fully generated barks, as well as in The Finals, is that the juice is absolutely not worth the squeeze in a game that is unquestionably high effort. Like it sounds bad because there isn’t a human performance to ground it.
For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

At long last, our watch is over. Thank you so much to everyone who hung out and donated to the Boston Children’s Hospital. We raised $370 (which is $370 more than we expected)

Thank you thank you thank you! We’ll be seeing you all again next year!
