🚨🚨 It is rare that the rulings of @eucourtofjustice.bsky.social make headlines but the judgment yesterday on the recognition of #samesex marriage is a rare exception to this. Very welcome ruling from the CJEU: 🧵

It’s especially ironic because the lecture is exactly about the ‘paralyzing cowardice’ of today’s elites.

About universities, corporations and media networks bending the knee to authoritarianism. /4

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Will the Tusk government lose its parliamentary majority?
The imminent resignation of a TV-personality-turned-politician from the leadership of the nominally ‘anti-duopoly’ liberal-centrist party that he founded threatens the ruling coalition’s cohesion and stability. To remain in office after the next election, it will need a replacement pro-government party that can appeal to voters looking for ‘newness’. Crucial for Mr Tusk’s victory The liberal-centrist ‘Poland 2050’ (Polska 2050) is a junior partner in the current ruling coalition - led by Donald Tusk, leader of the Civic Coalition (KO - until October 2025 Civic Platform: PO), a larger liberal-centrist grouping that was Poland’s main governing party between 2007-2015 - which came to office in December 2023.
