Aha, so this CO2 capture ship stuff is really just ocean-liming tech in a new guise. But using "free" spare heat and already-pumped seawater. Since ocean liming is already quite cheap, this looks like it might be really quite affordable.

A few years back, Pinker and Lomborg where examples for me. I *loved* the Sceptical Environmentalist!

But Lomborg went on to cherry picking and often straight-up lying about energy in a way that must be conscious, and Pinker fancies himself knowledgeable about energy and climate change but isn't.
This is particularly stunning because the sheer number of times we demonstrated Bjorn Lomborg was just flat-out lying grew so large that it almost became literally pointless to keep doing it, because he just ignores it and keeps on going

So "infrared panels and renewable liquid fuels" in the new UK subsidy scheme.

Both have the potential to make things worse. When I was in DECC there were very, very good reasons we did not support liquid fuels.

We can find suitable land with sunlight, water, and nutrients to grow plants, wait years to harvest the biomass and burn it for energy, hope to capture the CO₂ with carbon capture and storage technology, and find a suitable spot to bury the CO₂ permanently.

OR we can use solar panels.

Removing gas from domestic heating should be an important piece in climate based energy policy.
NEW ANALYSIS: More than 80% of UK social housing still relies on gas boilers keeping bills exposed to international gas markets and climate targets out of reach.

I’ve explored how other European countries are tackling this at scale, and what the UK can learn.
