UNESCO continues to struggle with worldwide losses of heritage values due to climate change.

Australia argues that rising temperatures are a global problem (i.e. not our fault) - while continuing to export coal and gas for as long as possible.

There has been a lot of work in recent years on something called Near Infra Red (NIR) reflective pigments. Basically, colors that sort of reflect heat. Which is cool, but it seems the main application for them is to make roof tiles. 🧪

CDR isn't just direct air capture (DAC), which people currently think takes too much energy. There are other terrestrial and marine CDR methods, so we need to research which ones could work (in the sense I mentioned in my slide).

Simplistic and therefore not very accurate but perhaps easier to understand: The earth's surface is 71% water. 1°C over the ocean surface is equivalent to about 4.5°F over the entire land surface. If oceans weren't buffering the energy from the sun we'd be almost 5 degrees warmer all day every day.
