Kid you are 54 years old and not matriculated, you don’t need to worry about a college campus

Kid Rock: Do you know what is stupid… these chicks running around on campuses with blue hair, five nose rings.

Was just at a neighborhood school at dismissal. Hundreds of people with whistles surrounding the school and stationed down every block making sure ICE doesn’t snatch anyone. The same is happening at all the schools around here. I love my neighborhood and I love Chicago.

Bones? This can't be the police procedural TV show, right?
pinkoscare.bsky.social
People love it and think it's so cute and they're wrong

The book I'm working on has a family consisting of an aunt and her grown niece and nephew, and it would be so cool if I had a word besides "niblings" to refer to them together.
pinkoscare.bsky.social
I wish the gender-neutral term for niece/nephew wasn't "nibling." What a stupid sounding word.

"Protesters are expected to absorb violence but never inflict it—to function as shock absorbers to be acted upon, whose sympathetic value is nullified by any deviation from that standard ... under capitalism, 'peace' is the maintenance of violence on the state’s terms."
interruptcrim.bsky.social
"If your tactics disrupt the order of things under capitalism, you may well be accused of violence, because 'violence' is an elastic term often deployed to vilify people who threaten the status quo. Conditions that the state characterizes as 'peaceful' are, in reality, quite violent."

I might re-watch it. Though my tolerance for some of the subject matter has gone down a lot

Omg someone went on a hunger strike outside the Netflix office in LA to protest the show being canceled.

I mean I guess actually the ending mostly sucks because it was supposed to be five seasons, not two
pinkoscare.bsky.social
I really liked the woman who is maybe dealing with a trauma-induced psychotic break but also maybe actually magic aspect of it. That's like, my favorite shit.
pinkoscare.bsky.social
I think I just hated the ending, tbh

Randomly just thought about The OA, which has to be one of the weirdest series I've ever watched. I still can't decide if I think it's brilliant or completely stupid.

I've had them! They're just okay, imho. You know how a mango tastes a tiny bit like grass? They taste like that. The grass part, with a hint of mango.

The fact that passionfruit is a native plant where I'm from never fails to delight me
mossworm.bsky.social
similar thing happens with passiflora. enjoy the tropical and mysterious passionfruit, from the steamy, exotic jungles of Pennsylvania and New Jersey
range map of Passiflora incarnata, purple passionfruit, which is found from Texas to Florida, north to Pennsylvania, west to Illinois

This is true and they are super endangered by poachers who shovel them up by the hundreds and sell them at flea markets and shit. You should not buy the plants and if you happen to kick the poacher in the shins on accident, no one will hear about it from me.

still amazing to me the number of movies, games, etc. which have Venus Flytrap-based creatures in some form compared to the actual native range of Venus Flytrap, which is like, the great untamed jungles of a few wet pine savannas in North Carolina
map illustrating the native range of Venus Flytrap plants, just a little half circle around coastal North and South Carolina in USA

Happening now: we're at the Broadview ICE facility outside Chicago.

CCSO + Broadview police are telling protesters + press they can't stand on the west side of 25th Street for any reason.

We asked what the precise public safety issue is. They just said they're anticipating cars coming through.

One of the reasons to reject the obligatory demands for conservative affirmative action in liberal institutions is that the people who take advantage of it almost invariably function as a fifth column explicitly dedicated to destroying the institution from within.

don’t see what’s so bad about “dogpiling,” piles of dogs are great
