Rain and wind for the walk to the station. Get there and phone doesn’t want me to access ticket codes (iPhones are rubbish). Train cancelled. Wonder what else today has in store for me!

Slow cooked lamb shank garlic and chillie curry. Hours in an oven and some time to rest and deepen in between. Cracking dinner last night!

"Every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse" - wow, the wording in this isn't pulling its punches
🚨 BREAKING 🚨
The UK Govt has quietly published - without announcement - the Joint Intelligence Committee/DEFRA report it suppressed last October. They tried to sneak it out in the midst of crisis. Read and share:

“Global Biodiversity Loss, Ecosystem Collapse & National Security.”

An across-government technical assessment published today recognises that "nature is the foundation of national security" and that "every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse". A rational response to this would be to get very serious about nature recovery.

The psychology of social media described perfectly.
I've doubled my income as a carpet and floor fitter uploading videos doing jobs poorly or wrong. Record a shit job, and then an hour extra fixing it. Put a perfect clip up you get 5 messages and 100 views. Put a bad one up you get 100s of posts correcting it and 10,000s views.

It needs to use energy better.

Our new @plosclimate.org paper shows energy efficiency is a core driver of competitiveness—boosting productivity, security & decarbonisation.

5 hours sleep to find Avanti have shortened the regular train. Trying to work with screaming children and a toothless drunk trying to talk to everyone. Lovely start to Monday.

Here's the chemistry behind both! www.compoundchem.com/2014/06/01/n...

Well-installed heat pumps installed in the UK today achieve on average a 64% higher efficiency than those during the early trials 15 years ago.

It is testament to the brilliant installers and to the technology getting better. More in our recent paper:
