Yeah, makes sense - I have felt slightly more suggestable today....

A circumzenithal arc? Anyway, nice clear skies on the Costa del Morecambe, but bracing for some “this is not normal, the world is on fire” weather this weekend

If you're as concerned as me about the pace and scale of proposed staff cuts and department closures at UK universities, this piece arguing for a new regulatory framework is worth a read 👇

Coming soon: a website showing exactly how much warmer or cooler than usual the UK is right now.

If you live in the north-west of England it is currently a lot warmer than usual for the time of year and time of day.

Great to have extended the climate stripes up and down and to have documented their genesis!

Interested the stratosphere signal? See Box 5-1 of the 2018 WMO Ozone Assessment:

Thanks to NCAR's Bill Randel & John Starr for the extended stratospheric temperature data.

The Warming Stripes have now been extended downwards into the ocean and upwards into the stratosphere!

Collaborative paper which tells the story of how the stripes were developed, and discusses their extension across the Earth system, is now available in BAMS: journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal...

Just heard that staff are being told this morning that EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD) will be completely shut down by the end of April.... because who needs research or development on environmental issues?

Probably could sell but would not likely cover the cost of replacing and reinstalling!

Option 2 seems attractive. However, the scary array of cabling, controls, and wired plates makes me think it's a job for someone with money for an entire home re-wiring.

One blind now doesn't work. For repair, call out fee and first hour is ~£130+VAT.

Which option?

1) It's probably rare (first time in ~4 years) and it's easier to suck up the cost.

2) Beware sunk cost fallacy. It's going to always cause problems and we should go back to a "dumb" system.

The jet stream that helped dump a foot of snow on the Gulf Coast is now accelerating over the Atlantic, helping fuel the strongest storm on record over Ireland with 100 mph gusts and 50 ft waves! It is so strong NOAA sent a hurricane hunter to Ireland to collect data!
