Happy #Caturday from Nona
Early in my career, part of my job was what we called a "demo jock" - doing software demonstrations. I carried an 80 MB hard drive that I plugged into whatever Unix workstation they had in the field office.

That was not a typo. 80 MEGABYTES.

The old dudes talk about programming inside KB space.
There was a time when I had a business that required a lot of digital storage. We paid $20,000 (around $40k in today’s dollars) for a 5-foot-high stack of interconnected drives.

They had 54 gigs of storage! Less than half of the iPhone I got for free when I signed a 2-yr contract.

I’m only 55.

Maybe some of these traitorous, corrupt, incompetent bastards are actually going to jail
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

Trump administration orders 500 more National Guard troops to DC after shooting of soldiers

I have voted in every Federal, State and Local election I have been eligible to vote in. You haven't?

That's ok START NOW!
Please tell me you understand what a huge responsibility we all have to vote in the US.

It’s our voice. It’s our choice. It’s the power we have as a people.

Vote.

I've been using DuckDuckGo for a while now and it's so much better than Chrome, Edge, Safari, and the rest. I filter out AI images and turned off AI features in general.

I wonder if every day voters who tend to be 'conservative' and Republican are gonna finally figure out they've been conned for decades and that what they need is a healthy dose of social democracy.

I doubt they can face it. Pride goes before the fall.

Having been around tech bro culture a bit, I myself was prepared.
I think I was unprepared for the degree to which (some) techbros are scientifically illiterate

The regime will be slow walking applications to avoid providing SNAP benefits
Just when you think they can't get any more slimy, they do shit like this.

Everyone will now have to reapply for SNAP.

Don't think for a second that the USDA is going to be able to process 42 million applications in a timely fashion.

That's the whole point.

All major media is complicit in the "both sides-ism" we see everywhere today. UK and USA
So much for left wing bias at the BBC, Brexit is a right wing project and apparently it’s popular.

Do you live in the Charlotte area? Know someone who does? One of the most important things you can do is get a whistle & tell your family & friends & neighbors to do the same. If people blow their whistle when they see CBP that takes away CBP’s ability to surprise vulnerable people.

I have three words for Pam Bondi.

Defense council discovery.
Pam Bondi will not have a license to practice law when this is all over. You can’t stay a bar member and agree to investigate only members of one political party for child sexual abuse but not members of the other. And, you can’t do it after previously saying no one else could be charged.

If you are a veteran, I thank you for your service. In my experience, veterans are hard working, good people who often didn't get privileges in their youth. They earned what they have. #veteransday

We’re all going to be completely illiterate in 10 years

The AI bubble is officially bursting.

To get the trillion Elmo must:
- Increase stock value to six times its current level
- Deliver 20 million Tesla EVs in 10 years
- Deploy 1 million robots
- Deliver 10 million paid self-driving software subscriptions

LOL!!

i am not against machine-learning technologies as such, but i will always be opposed to the use of such technologies to generate simulations of the products of human thought and creativity. i will never willingly interact with a counterfeit human.

California Prop 50 passes in clear rebuke of Trump
The close of polls at 8 p.m. marked the culmination of a remarkably short election season launched by Gov. Gavin Newsom over the summer in response to Texas Republicans' gerrymandering.
