baby’s at the stage where they can say dog and the modal animal they see is a dog so therefore every animal is a dog

You laugh, but this is actually the number one rule in academic publishing for petty and disaffected scholars.
everyone knows the number one quality of rigorous, responsible journalism is waiting months and months to reveal urgently newsworthy information until it can cause the most harm in your personal vendettas

Also, my sister does this so much better than me. I break under pressure eventually and argue with them. She becomes even more polite and pleasant, leading them to both ignore her and somehow think better of her after the conversation. Masterclass.
This strategy has been one of my go-tos with my family for years, but I didn't realize it had a name. Or where the name came from.
lol...i have never heard grey rocking outside of how to survive an abusive relationship before you have the means to flee

Old enough to remember Very Serious Journalists who lapped up the Nuzzi piece on Biden last summer as gospel and if you think anyone in that category is going to offer a mea culpa you’ve got another thing coming.

This is so dystopian even Baudrillard would never.

I don't think $140k makes sense as a "poverty line," but worth noting such a family is likely paying a similar or higher total effective tax rate than most billionaires.

American taxes are structured to make it hard to turn income into savings but easy to grow existing wealth into greater wealth.

I am ready to go beyond implication and say after reading the facts here that one of the most recognizable people working in the White House almost certainly had ICE arrest her nephew's mother as a favor to her brother
This article heavily implies that ICE is being used in a custody dispute to help Karoline Leavitt's brother get his son and have the mother locked up in ICE detention
"A woman with a family connection to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Revere, Massachusetts."

It is my honor to announce the winner of the annual AAR Squeegee Game Prize...Ben Menghini!

(There is actually no literal prize, but the title itself carries weight. Gravitas, even.)

Hopefully I (and maybe you?) will get to play again next year – in Denver!

Please, academics, you don't "critically examine/analyze" anything, you "examine/analyze" it.

Thank you for coming to my last-day-of-AAR (broken, weeping) TED Talk.

This is the message of MeToo...which was blown over by men.
THIS. This is women’s reality in this world. It is time right now to face it and blow this system up and burn it down. This will take all of us who aren’t actively working to keep it this way. Examine your role in allowing it to happen, then work harder to support the innovative bravery of women.

Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.
