Hey, @jay.bsky.team.

As a disabled person, it's disheartening to see one of the foundational pushers of alt text, a Black STEM voice, a queer advocate, and a huge voice for the disabled community gone over a poor taste joke.

Having Link here is good for so many people.

Please reconsider?

The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.

This is an excellent bit of advice from Dr Jane Goodall. What a wonderful message to leave behind.

What a wonderful human being she was, I'm so sad to hear of her passing.

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.

AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

That's too bad, I could see it being a really fun premise for a show.

Oh Rad! I really enjoyed the first one, I'll check these out.

Thanks!

Me: "Wait, it's a series?"
*goes off to google*

So, just the one novella, but it's being made into a show for Apple TV?

Are you from the future?

Recently built a new PC, and swapped out one of my monitors for a big 4k monitor.

Kiddo saw the old monitor sitting on my floor. "Whatcha gonna do with that?"

So that's why my kid now has a 3 monitor setup. :-D

I have an email address that is older than some of my colleagues.

My actual bones cried out in terror when I found that out.

This is really good. I don't consume a ton of comics/graphic novels, but I really enjoyed this. Page 9 is probably my fav, but I love the style change for the daydream and the art in general.

Recommended reading: Rudolph Herzog's book about humor — what jokes were allowed, what jokes weren't, what jokes could get you imprisoned, what jokes could get you shot — during the Third Reich. It's sobering reading right now, as Trump attacks comedians, late night talk show hosts, and actors.

This is what politicization of the Justice Department results in.

It's gross that they're doing it, and it's gross that people are going to actually pay to go do it. Just gross all around.

I've been on this soapbox for most of my life now, but treating the unhoused with respect and helping them to get back on their feet *makes the world a better place for all of us*.

Good on ya, Finland. I wish we had your empathy here.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

If there's been one constant in my journey as an artist, whatever the medium:

The material you need next is *always* on the bottom of the stack of art materials.

This message brought to you by the tube of watercolor in the tray at the very bottom of the stack of trays.
