Arsenal have 0 goals and just 1.2 xG from set plays out of 9 goals and 6.82 xG total from the last 4 Premier League matches.

Is Arsenal becoming too reliant on open play?

Let me take the other side of Kesh here. I think we strangled that match almost completely defensively and created enough pressure and chances the score 2 goals. It was by no means pretty but it was quite effective, and you can win a league handily if that’s how you perform in midtable away games
You can't play like that regularly if you want to win the league but if you do play like that, you have to win. Hated pretty much every second of that.

Victor Gyokeres performance vs Newcastle.

I’m quite pleased with 6 shots and I think he did pretty well with them. Added 2 key passes and I thought the hold up was solid. He didn’t get the whistle either or the VAR benefit of the doubt.

🚨EXCL: Understand LW not a priority for #Arsenal this summer, with focus on other areas. The #Gunners are happy with current options Martinelli and Trossard (new deal soon). Any incoming signing would likely require a sale to comply with PSR/UEFA cost control measures. #AFC

🚨 EXCL: Rodrygo not pushing for a move away from Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso highly rates the Brazilian winger, who remains firmly in the club's plans. No pressure to sell from Madrid's side despite Arsenal interest. #AFC #RMA

give me Rodrygo and Calvert Lewin and I'm good
June 5, 2025 at 6:44 PM
🚨Arsenal’s pursuit of Rodrygo may require a compromise in their search for a centre-forward. The significant financial outlay for the Brazilian could limit their budget, pushing the Gunners toward a more pragmatic, cost-effective signing to bolster their attack. #Arsenal #AFC #Gunners

reports about LW are always being described as a luxury signing and not a necessity. We have other positions to fill that are "essential", and seems a LW upgrade is "optional". I think the club take the easy option and extend Trossard
Arsenal's transfers:

- Zubimendi wrapped up since last summer
- close on Joan Garcia
- Isak the ideal, but most work done on Sesko
- plenty of CF options so "no excuse"
- left forward the most "indulgent" option as need to balance Saka's productivity
