Given the amount of members of House GOP leadership pushing this same message today, I guess a new comms memo must have gone out. Tells you how scared they are of huge popular protests!

Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

the latest effort to try to find the switch to turn off liberalism (also these people hate the idea of a free society)

President Donald Trump's threatened crackdown on the finances and activities of liberal non-profits and groups opposed to his agenda is a multi-agency effort with top White House aide Stephen Miller playing a central role, according to officials.

So it sounds like Miller basically has created a task force (directed by him) to go after liberal groups because they're the political opposition? Sure sounds like something we've seen in Russia, Hungary, et al!

There's no reason this shouldn't still be a NYT front page story - it would be in a Democratic administration if they platformed someone with Posobiec's background.

Dizzying how some of the biggest doofuses who skulked around the most feverish, fetid corners of the internet now whisper in the ears of the people who run the government.

Ten years ago, Posobiec was an Infowars clown who was throwing out 1488s and parenthesizing Jews on Twitter.

Antisemitic, pro-Putin, in league with white nationalists, promoted the Pizzagate conspiracy theory - and now being platformed by the president of the United States

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

You say that like they haven't already had Republican committees in the House sending USCCB and CCUSA letters demanding information about their grantees this summer.

I personally most enjoyed "this horse demon just loves to hang out" which really just makes me want to take a trip to Wales (not something I'd really considered before).

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

Completely agree. She was trying to get them to waste their allotted time by throwing up chaff. Whitehouse had a good video he put after it rebutting it.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

I think Thune is likely caught a bit between a rock and a hard place, which is that Trump himself is likely amenable to extending the ACA subsidies (because he doesn't want everyone to get mad at him), while Vought, Miller, etc. think they can Sephiroth post their way to victory.
pmeyers7.bsky.social
Well it’s not like a big proportion of those workers live in a state with an election in a month or anything like that.
pmeyers7.bsky.social
This is what I find so strange (given that the layoffs haven’t materialized) - that was them Sephiroth-posting to create leverage, but given that Dems didn’t buy it and the public is still blaming them, why would doubling down help them? Esp in Virginia, whose election is a month away?
pmeyers7.bsky.social
I also fail to understand why this would "escalate Trump's pressure on Democrats." In what respect are federal workers solely Democratic constituents? Marc seems content to just publish their talking points, which is his prerogative, but like...not really understanding the thesis here.

This really makes it sound like a Border Patrol agent tried to kill an anti-ICE activist in Chicago and DHS lied to cover for him

I still remember when they tried to open a McDonald’s downtown in Amherst and it swiftly went out of business because everyone just kept going to the local restaurants (they put it next to Antonio’s, if memory serves, the dumbest place they could have put it).
