I remain a staunch defender of Chrono Cross. Gorgeous game, with more little strings connecting it to Trigger than people give credit for, especially once you've played Radical Dreamers. The whole connective tissue all the way through all three is what makes it feel deeper and more important.

I wonder if I was taught that way since the intent of typing at school was generally for printing a paper. Less about website rules and more about readability of dense, written text? I doubt my elementary teachers were thinking about the uniformity of font spacing and web publishing.

When I was looking up the reason, the most I got was "It was how people who used typewriters were taught" yet I've never used a typewriter. My school was very behind and still had Apple II machines until 2001 when they got a grant to upgrade to Mac G3. I used an HP at home, though.

This method of teaching was still pushed in the late 90s/early 00s. I habitually still double space despite being in my early 30s. It could possibly have been a regional push depending when it started getting phased out? I was never told it was an issue until Word kept auto-removing them on me.

I learned to type this way in elementary school. Recently when I needed to write a paper and had access to Word, I noticed it kept removing the second space. I had no idea it was no longer a requirement? I only remove them if I need space in a post like this. It's too ingrained in me.
