I hate and despise Clegg with more vigour than you can imagine.
His idiotic coalition with Cameron was a disaster for the UK.
It screwed the country, it screwed the Lib Dem party, and it ultimately led to Brexit.
The man is a toxic, two faced imbecile who can't be trusted in any way.

"I just think there's no evidence that scrolling on a social media app changes who you vote for."

Nick Clegg - Meta’s former VP of Global Affairs - rejects the idea that social media directly influences voters.

@maitlis.bsky.social
politicsphil.bsky.social
Absolutely.
The BBC have capitulated on their obligations to hold MPs and Ministers to account.
They are down in the gutter with the Scun, Daily Record, Daily Star etc.

What next, page three tits on Newsnight ??
onelifestand87.bsky.social
It is embarassing not to see the BBC pulling up Reform leaders claiming that Nathan Gill was just some fan who got photos taken with Farage - he was an MEP for them & their leader in Wales while taking cash from Russia to act against the UK! Literally the very basics of your job to point this out

It has always been imperative that Science and the Judiciary are independent of both the executive and the state.
politicsphil.bsky.social
When you see a spread of support like that, with 4 parties within 10%, it should be the death knell of FPTP.

I have been caught out by some on here taking sarcasm as realism.
We need some new emojis

Broadcast this widely people.

Many rural pubs up in the North (Yorkshire, Teesside, Durham) now close at 10 pm.
jamesrball.com
There are reasons to think the claims that Gen Z “doesn’t drink” or even drink less than millennials did at their age aren’t true – it seems to be partly a Covid effect and partly some dodgy stats.

But I could easily believe they drink earlier and go home earlier. Pubs look *quiet* after 9pm now…
byrobdavies.bsky.social
Pub industry folk: What do you make of this?

I'm sure it's not unwelcome but will it make much difference?

My impression is that you're struggling to fill space until 10pm, let alone 1am.

Also, never forget that Cameron only got to be PM because of that traitor, Nick Clegg.
politicsphil.bsky.social
Forgetting competence, and just my own particular bias, I despise Johnson and Cameron more than any others.
politicsphil.bsky.social
Douglas Home higher, Johnson lower.

Never forget :-
One man's tax cut, is another man's service cut.
stuartgwynn.bsky.social
So, the Tories' plans are getting into the reaches of £20b, plus Stride says he's going to cut £47b.
It apoears that Reform and the Conservatives are locked in a room playing a game of Fantasy Economy Promises.
samfr.bsky.social
Good to see the Conservative Party committed to keeping the deficit down by *checks notes* spending £2 billion giving tax breaks for private education, creating a massive new deportation force and pledging to maintain pensioner benefits.

I was quite surprised, given the amount of negative press that would have you believe that this government is the worst we’ve had yet.

I’ll put the link in the next post but given we had a complete shit show with the Tories, this is astonishing. Do reshare or bookmark the link, it’s handy.
Under the last Tory Govt, elected in 2019, of 42 Manifesto Pledges, only
2 were delivered in 5 years.
Under the current Labour Govt, elected in 2024, of 83 Manifesto Pledges, 57 are delivered (18), on track (19), or in process (20).
In 1 year.

politicsphil.bsky.social
Indeed we can't.
gsoh31.bsky.social
Yet again Badenoch has shown how the state and the policymaking community hate the young and listen only to the old. And some observers lap it up. We can't go on like this.

What next ?
Abolish income tax ??

Now the Party Conference Pantomime season is over it’s worth remembering:
The next GE is the best part of four years away.
By then the Conservative Party, if it still exists, would have changed leaders at least twice.
The UKIP/Brexit/Reform party will probably be running under yet another name.
Ok?
politicsphil.bsky.social
Another un-thought policy.
Tell me Kemi, what do you propose to do with the thousands of PhD researchers, Academics, Administrators etc, which this policy will push unto the unemployment register ??

I'd like to see what extra tax she proposes to fill the Treasury gap that policy creates.

🚨 Tory Policy Announcement Shocker 😱

They plan to abolish stamp duty which will benefit (drum roll 🥁🥁) London and the rich

That’s not like them at all to look after the rich and shaft everyone else.. this is earth shattering.. it’d be like Farage & co being exposed as philanthropists, not grifters

jupite5.bsky.social
#bbcnews #skynews Tories trying to portray themselves as the party of fiscal responsibility is ridiculous after the billions spent on useless PPE, Test and Trace, Johnsons gold wallpaper scam and Liz Truss economics. UK debt almost trippled under 14 years of Tories.
politicsphil.bsky.social
Indeed. That would be quite difficult 😕
politicsphil.bsky.social
Fully agree Sam
sambv.bsky.social
Oh for a Tory party with the likes of Soubry, Grieve, Gauke and Stewart still in it. I, or indeed you, may not vote for them even so, but the country would be in a better place with them still in the Commons

Yes I try very hard NOT to shop at Amazon.

Boycott Amazon
I do

Amazon’s October Prime Day event has discounts on lots of Strategist-approved products. And while Amazon is the best place to shop right now, retailers across the internet have competing sales.

Indeed, Cameron was weak, but he was also out of his depth and foolish.
curatorian.bsky.social
I wonder how much of the current moment can all be traced back to David Cameron's cowardice and weakness, in hoping that a referendum would see off the Tory right.
