Every year, as turkey feast day approaches, I am reminded of someone I heard about who wanted to throw a frozen turkey out of a moving car window at a random intersection, rather than offering a rooster at a crossroads as per the lwas' demand.

I got sufficient sleep last night, I did my morning routine, and I even got a (much needed) shower in just now, so I'm feeling fresh and presh for the upcoming day.

On this day of Mars, have a bit of my musing about this malefic and why I think Mars is as beautiful and necessary as anything and everything else among the planets, and why we shouldn't fear working with or including Mars in our lives, come what may.

Thoughts on Mars
So, as many astrologers, occultists, and others (like me) who are groupies of astro-Twitter are aware, Mars is about to enter in Aries again, where it’ll be for about the next six months or s…

I've installed malware on my computer before, but I was, like, 12. Why should I trust a program with the reasoning of a 12-year old again? And why should anyone be pushing an "artificial intelligence" WITH the reasoning of a 12-year old?

I think that's an extremely fair and nuanced middle ground, a compromise position that is practical, because the ideal situation is to never have utilized AI slop in the first place, but you still have the opportunity to remove it. There's your moment of grace, don't abuse it.

If your game has been using AI assets in production, remove them, hire artists or voice actors or composers to replace the slop, it's not too late to course correct, just get rid of it before release, excise the slop. And that's the compromise position, because people still might not trust you.

I care that the art I engage with is made by humans, regardless of how "good" the tech may become, that is the underlying contention, that is important to me and cannot be bargained away. I'm sick of hearing about compromise this and middle ground that, do you want to hear my compromise?

Remove it.

I am constantly aggravated by this tech, it is foisting so much extra work on me, because throughout the last couple of years, the sheer amount of games using generative AI that are flooding my inbox, many that DO NOT DISCLOSE THIS, is forcing me to scrutinize everything that ends up in my inbox.

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

well, I've already made my own SVG of the Megaloschema, I suppose making my own SVG of a Shiviti was just a matter of time

and because my ancient private copy of Adobe Illustrator CS6 doesn't have RTL text support, I guess this is as good a reason as any to learn how to actually use Inkscape

A while back, I worked on a translation and analysis of a fascinating kind of divination, the Telescope of Zoroaster, from an obscure French book from 1796.

While I did my best to dig into the system as much as I could, and was able to get some insights into how it came about in the historical context it did, there are still some open questions that I can't answer on my own. Who knows, perhaps you might be the one to pick up those loose threads!

It is bizarrely frigid in my office today, as it was yesterday as well, but only on my floor. In addition to coming dressed more appropriately for the conditions, I am also cute today.

Sharing this yet again. I appreciate the kindness and support. Mom is still dealing with her post surgery issues. I’m trying to keep us both afloat and hard when I’m disabled.
I hate doing this online but I’m in a tough position. Me and my mother are both disabled and currently homeless, living out of a cheap hotel until we can get back on our feet. Staying here has eaten up all my savings. If you’d like to help, my PayPal is @ josmeeks. Anything is appreciated.

I will forever be annoyed that, when presented horizontally, traditional Mongolian script is shown as left-to-right, but as a derivative of Aramaic rotated 90° counterclockwise, it now basically presents as upside down, so it should be read right-to-left instead so that it's right side up.

A lot of ink and airtime is sometimes given to "The Prophecy of Hermēs Trismegistos" from the Asclepius—and with good reason, given how long and dire it is—but did you know there are actually two prophecies in the text, and it's the other one that's more important?
