Very left -no, further left than that. Started a theatre co. in SF; ran it for years and years. And years. And years. Directed, produced (shows & CDs),acted, & against my better judgment, sang. Charlie’s dog dad. She’s a girl (think Hitchcock).🏳️‍🌈🐶

I had no idea that Anne Revere was the original Martha!

Santamonically is a keeper.

I grew up in Santa Barbara. Agree it resembles East Beach, but EB has a lot more palm trees. Benjamin will have to let us know, but my educated guess is that it's his new hometown of Santa Monica.

The White House Antifa Roundtable is one of the best displays I’ve seen of this-is-how-bad-it’s-gotten — just a sewer of open fascism, dementia, morons and freaks, and incoherent rage.

Truth-tellers don’t get silenced because they lie. They get silenced because they remind others, they’re not crazy.
This whole system was lost long before the military stormed our streets. But we will still resist. Unbought. Unbowed. Loud. And that matters, especially at the end. #Resist

One reason I like having multiple recordings of scores is that the record producers might choose to record something that isn't on the OBCR.

For instance, Norman Newell (the West End Goddard Lieberson) included Maria's charming flutey entrance music on the Sound of Music OLCR in 1961.

There's a biography of her, The Girl Who Fell Down by Lisa Jo Sagolla, that came out about fifteen years ago. I read it, but only remember how sad it was.

J McC positively radiates star quality in Good News. I have no idea why it didn't lead to more movie roles for her, but we're the poorer for it.

Don't quote me, either, but I don't think that's Bambi Linn. Joan McCracken is also missing.

Tallulah Bankhead:
Dahling, I didn't get a wink of sleep last night. The phone rang at 2 am. It was Amelia Earhart. She said "Where IS everybody?"

Serious question: What's stopping the State of Illinois from arresting Stephen Miller & charging him with incitement?

The Senate didn't confirm him. He's just a guy.

At some point, the states MUST use their authority to prosecute, because the federal government certainly will not.

The Sound of Music at 60: A missing scene! After Elsa tells the Captain Maria's leaving, he rushes up to give her her final pay. He walks in just as she's changing back to the dress the poor didn't want. Cut when test audiences thought it looked like the he was paying her for "services rendered."

The moment Vance takes over, he's stuck with three problems:

1. He's JD Vance and nobody likes him.
2. He inherits all of Trump's messes but none of the ability to bullshit his way through them.
3. "What did you know about Trump's health and when did you know it? Was there a cover-up?" and so on.

I remember watching the movie on TV when I was ten or so. Even though it was only twenty years since it ended, WW 2 and the Nazi horror seemed like it had been in a different world (my grandfather was a vet of WW 1). I keep thinking "But we were assured that it couldn't happen here!"

And also, apparently, stopped her out-of-town closer, Say Hello to Harvey. Larry Guittard adored working with her in Love Match.

Wow, hearing this with that phenomenal audience response is really thrilling. Thank you for curating all these PR clips, Kevin.
Well done!

Oh, this makes me so sad. I shall have to listen to Darling of the Day and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue between revisits with the great Hyacinth today.

I did Three Sisters twice! The second time, Betty Kern's kids found 3 missing songs. The stunning "While Mary Sleeps" is beautifully rewoven from the Sitting Pretty score. "Roll On, Rolling Road" "What's in the Air Tonight?," and "What Good Are Words?" are standouts beyond the 2 famous ones.
