What becomes very apparent when you look at enough of the Epstein emails is rich dorks thought of him as their Fonzie.

extreme Hudson vibe.

Robert Maxwell was 68 when he died; Epstein was 66.

Epstein died in August of 2019. those are from one month after his death.
Looks like someone in the FBI/DOJ was real interested in Savannah’s interviews with Virginia Guiffre 👀👀👀

I think the Russia, Russia, Russia thing is a bit of a misdirection. No doubt Putin used social media and influence operation to influence us, but everyone knows the real culprit was likely Israel. Did their oligarchs coordinate? probably.

He's in a double bind. Do what his boss (and by extension the Trump admin) wants and be widely seen as a sell out traitor by peers or don't do what the boss wants and get immediately fired. They have their fingers in the air trying to figure out who's going to "win." Some choose poorly.
No disrespect to media reporters, but I still don't understand how Will Lewis, formerly very good at running competitive news companies and understanding their role in the market, lost all those skills at the Post.

I see the "he was sent to blow it up for Trump" theory but he got the job in 2023!

soon someone of influence will start using the T word (treason) and that will be a glorious day.

I don't usually keep up with Celebrity News but apparently Joseph Gordon-Levitt sucks.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt went to the Senate claiming to "hold big tech accountable" while promoting The Heritage Foundation's tech policy agenda and boosting groups like Morality in Media (aka NCOSE), which has sought to criminalize LGBTQ sex, w board members that support conversion therapy

Ro is campaigning for the role of leader of the Democrat party because Schumer is both, weirdly enough, incompetent and a traitor. Good luck to him.

did not see the half time show. leaning into my own tradition of never watching professional sports because they are lame and stupid. but you be you.

this is true and this is good, but the real impediment to hope and change (hehe) will be the establishment neoliberal arm of the Democrat Party. We already see the billionaire class promoting "abundance" and "unpopulism" in a libertarian style thing. retreat and retrench.
The forces that make Trump impervious to internal correction within the GOP are going to create huge obstacles to the party winning elections and governing for a generation.
The tragedy of today's GOP is that they have purged anyone inclined to independence and leadership. Those who are left chose to climb into the back seat, and now they're lost. But they're finally yelling at the driver.

why I stopped subscribing to Reason. what a disappointment these so-called lovers of human freedom turned out to be. Shockingly, they have always been handmaids to oligarch power. There's no such thing as a "free market" and deregulation just means allowing oligarchs to loot.
When I worked for Reason magazine during Trump's rise to power in 2016, I was explicitly forbidden by the editor in chief from writing about Trump's racism, or the violence and racism at his rallies.

It was a "sideshow," I was told.
Weird. I tried to warn libertarians about Trump

Do Brits not know that labor was taken over by zionists (whatever the Brit version of AIPAC is) or do they just pretend not to know? Gee, you can't get your labor party to represent *checks notes* labor but they are very enthusiastic about geociding Gaza? interesting.
I'm no political strategist but has anyone in Labour considered *not* alienating any huge chunk of their base? I just feel like they tried alienating the left and the centre left and the public sector workers and the academics, and none of those things worked great, so maybe give my idea a whirl?

Centrist = takes money from oligarch donors.
Ezra Klein's Abundance movement is getting some backup: A new political group is urging Democrats to embrace "pro-growth," deregulatory policies with an eye toward 2028, according to plans first shared with Axios.
Exclusive: Centrist Dems strike back with new group
It's the latest effort by moderate Democrats to shape national politics and expand their influence.

the divide in the Dem party is those who are pro-israel and those who aren't. glad to say I voted for my new rep yesterday who is solidly anti (she won!).
VA Gov. Spanberger (moderate, was in CIA) and NYC Mayor Mamdani (left, is in DSA) both taking steps to block local law enforcement from helping ICE as it violently violates people's rights is a good example of how the relevant divide in the Dem coalition isn't center-left, it's fight-don't fight.

In the late 1990s, Peter Thiel read a strange book called "The Sovereign Individual: How To Survive and Thrive During the Collapse of the Welfare State."

It predicted the decline of nations and the rise of a "cognitive elite" empowered by a new digital currency.

And now...(coming August 2026)

Basically what Bannon and others recognized was that status anxiety over the changing gender norms was a way of selling the elite grievances of billionaires back to the masses as their own fear of someone else's freedom
