It’s unmistakable how much the way institutions treat lying federal officials is the same way they treat lying abusers and predators. Even when they contradict themselves, admit to wrongdoing, and repeatedly undermine their own credibility, institutions support their side over their victims.

Like oh huh - in one of the most chronically drought plagued states the Governor known to be extremely friendly to wealthy business interests vetoed a bill that would require them simply *to estimate or report annual water usage* even tho their water usage is totally NBD & doesn't matter at all? OK

It’s not necessary to keep highlighting the qualities of exceptional immigrants as a reason for them to be treated well by their governments. We don’t have to be on our best behaviour to receive a basic level of human decency: that‘s why they’re called “human rights”, and not “human privileges”.

People need food. Market won’t provide it. The government can. The government should.
People needing food does not necessarily imply government run grocery stores. Just as it does not imply government owned bakeries or millers or wheat fields.

Direct cash transfers are strong as a policy but not politically palatable.
People need food. Market won’t provide it. Government should. It’s literally the whole point.
