the NYT referring to "scientific orthodoxy" instead of "science" or "proven facts" or "the truth" is what helps you see that this newspaper is now, & has been for some time, a critical part of the fascist apparatus in this country
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

“Challenging scientific orthodoxy” is valorizing language. It suggests bold, innovative, out of the box thinking, not a self-obsessed crackpot operating with no scientific legitimacy whatsoever.

So sorry to hear of Michael Tyman's passing. I feel lucky to have taken a short seminar he lead on lithos at Reading some three years ago. I learned so much from the seminar and speaking with him that weekend.
So sad to hear of the death of Prof Michael Twyman, who nurtured many budding printing historians (including me) and whose support of and contribution to typographic history is celebrated in the most recent issue of the 'PHS Journal', demonstrating the breadth of his knowledge.
