I've been to some countries where people live under military rule or autocracy. And without fail, one of the questions I get when they ask about life in the U.S. is whether it's true that Americans just let homeless people die on the street.

I didn't know that leprosy/Hansen's disease "is one of the least contagious diseases there is. 95% of humans are naturally immune and it's not easily contracted by the other 5%. Today, leprosy is easily cured with antibiotics"

My first grader (a US citizen) came home from school crying because a friend from class (also a US citizen) hasn’t been coming to school because his parents (one of whom is not a citizen) are afraid of ICE.
Little kids don’t have concepts of racism and xenophobia. That has to be taught. Or imposed.

Mine sure is. Not reading as much as I normally do, since there is a quarterfinals on 5000m speed skating on, and still waiting for some curling to hit my TV.
