The exception that proves the rule!

I’m going to allow an exception here, Chris

The responses to the coach post have gotten earnest so I am out. I love you all. Even you earnest motherfuckers.

I haven’t followed baseball close enough for about 40 years to have any sense of this, but I will trust you

That elevator shit used to terrify me when I was little but once I got old enough to realize you were just in a really slow moving elevator going down like two floors this seemed like the safest ride in the whole park. What the fuck.
thefarmerjones.bsky.social
Absolutely but we’re just talking about coaches
thefarmerjones.bsky.social
No I know that’s what I said

Really and pretty are the same word tho aren’t they tho

LeBron James: pretty good coach!
thefarmerjones.bsky.social
I agree. I’m measuring them by which ones are either pretty good, mediocre, or shitty.

Realizing I made one mistake here and that was not clarifying beyond a reasonable doubt that Josh (quoted below), whose time playing quarterback under Chip Kelly endowed him with unparalleled understanding of the game, would in fact be the literal one great college football coach.
jcrutchmer.bsky.social
I would absolutely be a great college football coach it’s not even up for debate

Good time to remember that there are no truly great coaches in any sport. Literally none, ever. There are shitty ones and decent ones and pretty good ones, but the good ones only ever look great when they have elite talent, and will look mediocre or even shitty as soon as they don't.
thefarmerjones.bsky.social
Well, you’d rather have a pretty good one then a shitty one

I really would like to respond to this because Cooper is smart, but we don’t follow each other and he has that thing with his settings so I can only reply via quote skeet. I think this means we’re at war.

I don’t think this is true, I think the problems that the great coaches are doing things we can’t see and when they’re doing their job really well it just looks like they have elite talent, and when things fall apart the job flips into being a sacrificial lamb for the fans

Just now realizing how many people are not connecting this to the Belichick news. That’s a user error issue for those people. I can’t help them.

You only get to talk to me that way if you follow me, unfortunately

The standard that determines Brad Stevens is definitively a pretty good coach? Absolutely.
thefarmerjones.bsky.social
Those are the pretty good ones. I have addressed this.
