That doesn't make any sense. Even R.W.S. Connell says her theory doesn't apply in the Global South. Male leadership outside of Europe does not mean the same thing as Western patriarchy.

Thank you for the shout out. Patriarchy is not an universal phenomenon. Racialized men are often effeminized within Western patriarchies and made the target of lethal and sexual violence.

Our data shows despite the diversity of the U.S. for example, practically all the hires remain white. Assuming a normal distribution, we should get more Black hires from a more diverse international pool of scholars, but that is not the case.

Interesting, however if we look at faculty hiring practices, how do you explain that even among Asian groups which have much higher local representation, most Asian faculty hires are international. Our interpretation suggests international hires should result in higher diversity beyond local numbers

Anti-Black misandry has negative health consequences for Black men and boys. The dehumanization of Black males is linked to depression and suicide ideation, and is not reversible by markers of social mobility as is often the case in other groups.
