imagine if Labor cabinet ministers & MPs had an ounce of the character & courage of Senator Fatima Payman—they could prevent harms, achieve positive changes or at the least represent their constituents instead of Big Business, miners, weapons corps, financiers, property developers, landlords etc
Senator Payman: "The more I’ve lived and worked in public life, the more I’ve come to realise that bravery isn’t about never feeling afraid. It’s about recognising fear for what it is and choosing to act anyway. It’s a choice open to us all, not just those whose names end up in the history books."

Hanson’s proximity to Trumpian politics is emboldening her to up her game here, to the ongoing detriment to the Australian body politic. Democracy does need boundaries, we can’t pretend we all implicitly understand democratic principles. Discuss.

"progressive politics is not just about climate targets and tax reform. It must also be about moral courage: the ability to say, “Not in our name,” when innocent lives are being destroyed and our government looks away."
An excerpt from Senator Fatima Payman's brilliant essay from @australiainstitute.org.au latest book, "A Time For Bravery".

Rather topical given Hanson's bullshit yesterday

Hanson proving, yet again, that despite a quarter of a century in public office she remains bereft of ideas, originality, or even common sense.
PS: Of course she has a portrait of herself in her office!
#BREAKING 🚨 The Senate has been suspended after One Nation leader Pauline Hanson wore a burka on the floor, repeating her 2017 stunt

It happened shortly after Hanson tried introduce a bill which would ban burkas in Australia

So it appears the prime minister spent more time travelling to and from the G20 than it took Australia to win the first test…

What if we took the billions saved by not hosting the COP and gave it to the Pacific who we keep saying the COP was supposed to help? #climate

COP failure delivers a billion dollar opportunity to finally deliver for Pacific family
New analysis of Australia's foreign aid spending recommends a more direct way to help our Pacific neighbours, following the failure to win the right to host next year’s COP climate talks.
