For the [ast few years I've been editing the short fiction for Star Ship Sofa, a venerable SF (not F/H) podcast. It's a small joint, and I've turned it primarily into a reprint market as we can afford only $50 per story.

My wife kept recommending me the movie Black House/黒い家. It's a serial killer/psychopath movie about insurance fraud(?) from a novel by Kishi Yusuke, none of which really "hits" with me. But it's on U-next so I started it and HOLY SHIT. It's bonkers.

Translator problems: Author makes up an entire prefecture with its own private railway and makes a map of fifteen stations *that are never mentioned in the text.* Do those names actually have readings, or are they just mixed and matched kanji? Does it matter?

I'm dual booting Ubuntu and W11 because there are still programs I need on Windows. I recently booted it up and the *clock* didn't work.
All the settings were right (auto adjust, time zone, system clock) but the windows time was off by 6 hours. I reset it manually, next reboot, wrong again. 🤷

I had to spend an hour uninstalling the latest three Windows updates on my tablet as it created a glitch where Word refused to move away from page 3 in a document 🤪

This is your local localization editor telling you to absorb the things Tom says. Only Ursula K. Le Guin revisiting her own work gets to do whatever she wants with quotation marks (for now—someday things may shift).
I don't know which of my kouhais need to hear this, but because I'm seeing this in a ton of commercial J>E game locs: you really shouldn't retain quotation marks in the same places as the Japanese source text 9 times of 10, especially outside dialogue. Punctuation parity in general is often sloppy.
