I'm not advocating violence as a means of maintaining social decorum but it seems obvious that a great many people were only behaving out of fear of eating some punches, and we're gonna have to grapple with the implications of that sooner rather than later
I have neither thrown nor received a real punch in my life but I kind of think the root sin of the social internet is letting people just say and do things that in the real world would get the shit kicked out of them

On August 24, 1939, Ribbentrop and Molotov sealed the partition of Poland with the Hitler-Stalin Pact.

Did Rubio and Lavrov negotiate a Trump-Putin pact on September 25, 2025?

Now it's clear what these crooks have negotiated:
#Venezuela for #Trump and #Ukraine for #Putin!

Reminder.

It is extremely unlikely that a grouping of 6 cable breaks in a week are explained by common causes.

A lot of cables break each year, and any one might be from a benign cause. But not this many.
There is an estimated 1 in 10k - 100k years chance that all 8 of the Nov 2024 - Jan 2025 Baltic Sea cable breaks are coincidental.

Background data is hard to get by but no matter which real data or reasonable assumption one picks it is extremely unlikely all 8 of them are explained by chance.

Updated map of cable breaks between Sweden and Estonia, based on press release from Estonian ministry for digital affairs.

The details are murky and partly incoherent and I have asked Swedish authorities for clarification.

Whats clear: there are several breaks on one cable.

I just taught my lecture course on mid-20th c US history, which starts with Harding and concludes with Nixon.

For the first time, I had to pause and stress that those scandals were actually shocking at the time and, what’s more, that Americans actually demanded people be held accountable.
All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.
Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”
