I have been to the comic con. I met work friend and her bf, making a total of 3 of us from the 10 invited.

I bought nothing except lunch and water, enjoyed wandering about, and now it's home time.

Ah, it's not bad to get to. The event has its own food trucks, so the venue nastiness will be at a minimum.

Ok, so last night I slept properly, today I didn't overdo it, and to make myself feel better I'm going out to the nerd convention at the Excel tomorrow.

Anyone who sees me, you may either say hi or pretend you don't know me, as appropriate. I will be cosplaying as a civilian, as normal.

There is no on call, but we're all salaried so everyone is sort of on call. As the technical grown up, I'm who they call.

BBC London is doing a whole show on phone-snatching, and if you watched this you'd think that the Met is wholly and entirely dedicated to catching the little scrotes. The Met press office must be absolutely delighted at the unquestioning coverage this is giving them.

Slight tangent on related topic- using fingerprint unlock on your right hand only makes it very unlikely you'll use that phone whilst driving, and very visible if you do.

Good deterrent in its own right, and very useful when anyone accuses you of phone use while driving.

and yes, I know this makes doing stuff on your phone a bit more of a pain, but there's a real trade-off between friction and security. Up to you to make the decision on that trade-off, but I think it's worth it.

Indeed. In my case, it's less "channelling Shania Twain or Annie Lennox" and more "tripping over it" or "asking where the poles and guy ropes are."
