Liked it well enough! Too slight to have the breadth and poignancy of Pynchon’s best works, but it’s an interesting sort-of prequel to Gravity’s Rainbow nonetheless.
Finally got this oh my god

TikTok doing ads that go “people learn stuff on here!” is so fucking hilarious. The Not Melting Your Brain Company says they’re not melting my brain!

The PS2 truly is the best console ever because it is constantly becoming more powerful. Each time we say something "looks like a PS2 game" we're talking about a game of a higher fidelity than the last. What the PS2 is capable of in 2025 is so far beyond what it was capable of in 2003. That's amazing

The most upsetting part of No Country for Old Men to me is when Tommy Lee Jones monologues and his eyes are looking somewhere else and quickly move back and forth. Looks exactly like how my grandad used to look when telling a story and searching for a memory he couldn’t find. What a film.

video stores aren't "good," but going out and engaging with the world is good, while staying home half-watching the latest garbage the Netflix algorithm shoved at you while scrolling through your Insta feed is a form of cultural and spiritual malnourishment encouraged by corporate psychopaths
Yeah, I think I see the problem here - it's not that the video store was good, it's that you miss being a teenager

I will probably be saying this for the rest of my life but I can’t imagine growing up now in a world where you have no idea if the information you encounter everywhere through photo and video is even real

The “viral photos and videos of animals acting cute or interesting with people or each other” industry has been destroyed by AI. The last few examples I’ve seen of this have been AI. I have a feeling slop will further derail a pop culture understanding of animal biology and behavior

There’s a big dissonance when a fandom treats a character with less empathy than the author. It happens all the time
